Mitchell Scholars Visit Derry

6 November 2024. Thanks to Emma McAteer, a Derry-born woman who is part of our Los Angeles Cultur Club, and her dad Daniel McAteer, and his colleague Michael McLaughlin for hosting the Mitchell Scholars in Derry for Halloween.  The Mitchells stayed at the McAteers’ Belfray Country Inn, and the stops were pulled out as the Mitchells saw Grianán of Aileach, Ballycastle on the Donegal coast, Giant’s Causeway, and Halloween festivities in Derry.  They enjoyed the many conversations and learning about Derry’s history, growing up there during the Troubles, and how Derry has changed in the past 30 years.  And they saw Emma’s documentary, The Knot, about the role of women in the civil rights movement.
