The Mitchell Scholarship

Thank you for your interest in applying to the George J. Mitchell Scholarship Program.

The George J. Mitchell Scholarship Program is a nationally competitive award for U.S. citizens sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance. Named in honor of the former U.S. Senator's pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, the Mitchell Scholarship is designed to introduce and connect future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to public service.

In March 2024, we announced our decision to pause the selection of future classes of George J. Mitchell Scholars.  Full information about this decision may be found here. 

Key Dates:

Application for the 2024-2025 academic year (Mitchell Class of 2025) is closed.

Application Deadline: was September 28, 2023, 5 pm Eastern Time

Video Interview Deadline: was October 1, 2023, 5 pm Eastern Time

Semi-Finalist Virtual Interviews: were October 30 - November 2, 2023

Finalist Interviews: were November 18, 2023
